“You simply don’t know who you may be impacting, who is watching, who knows you and what can result in you simply being you."
And most of the time it's when you are least expecting someone to be...
Hold up...
So when I say watching, I don't mean in a creepy or conspiracy theory (birds are cameras) type of way.
Let's provide some context.
I was at a pretty big church gathering of friends and family yesterday,
About 200+ people, from all over the Carolinas and Georgia,
It was a great time and a great way to spend my fourth of July,
But what really stuck out to me was afterward, a lady came up to me and said:
"Michael?"
I replied with a slightly confused "Yes :)"
"You don't know me but I know you"
I of course was expecting one of those: "I remember you when you were little, I changed your diapers, your parents and I go way back, etc" that you get from spending time with friends and friends of friends.
But no.
She then said: "I am a follower of LinkedIn, and your content is (insert various compliments) and I see it in my feed all the time. Keep up the great work!
I was shocked.
Of course, I immediately felt good! Slightly like a celebrity if I'm totally honest (is this what Will Smith feels like 24/7?)
But, I remain humble and simply stumbled over multiple:
"Thank you, wow I appreciate that! Thank you!"
And this is when the moral of the story kicks in.
“You simply don’t know who you may be impacting, who is watching, who knows you and what can result in you simply being you." - Michael Ivy
I had no idea that she was following me here on LinkedIn, but now I am inspired to go out and get back to my regular posting.
It's been about a week or so, but today I start it up after a little leave.
I was so excited when she came up and said that, and whether or not this ever happens to you,
Know this (and a repeat of the moral above)
You simply don’t know who you may be impacting, who is watching, who knows you and what can result in you simply being you. - Michael Ivy
Keep up the great work!
